Artfully told. Deeply felt.

About the Author

Jessica Stenke is an author, poet, and artist whose work explores memory, resilience, love, loss, and the quiet moments that shape who we become. Through intimate poetry, emotionally driven fiction, and expressive artwork, she creates stories that invite readers to slow down, reflect, and find pieces of themselves within the page.

Before turning her focus toward poetry and young adult fiction, Jessica wrote a collection of children’s books inspired by the everyday wonder of family, curiosity, and meaningful conversations. Those stories remain an important part of her creative journey and continue to be enjoyed by young readers and their families.

Today, her work has evolved toward more introspective storytelling. Her upcoming poetry collection, Last Night, I Couldn’t Sleep, captures the thoughts that surface when the world is quiet and emotions become impossible to ignore. She is also the author of the forthcoming young adult novel, We Follow the Light, a coming-of-age story about grief, resilience, identity, and finding hope after heartbreak.

When she isn’t writing, Jessica can often be found painting, sketching, reading late into the night, or finding inspiration in the ordinary moments of everyday life. She lives in Colorado with her husband and son, where creativity, family, and a good cup of matcha continue to inspire everything she creates.

The New Release

Last Night, I Couldn’t Sleep is a collection of poetry, sketches, and quiet confessions shaped in the hours when the rest of the world has gone still.

Inspired by the notebooks, loose pages, half-finished doodles, and forgotten notes we rediscover in old boxes over time, this book feels like opening a deeply personal time capsule. Each page holds a thought once scribbled in the dark, a memory that resurfaced without warning, a feeling too complicated to name, or a truth that only felt safe to admit when no one else was awake.

Through intimate poetry and imperfect, hand-drawn illustrations, Last Night, I Couldn’t Sleep explores love, longing, heartbreak, growing older, and the thoughts that keep us awake long after midnight.

It is for anyone who has ever turned on a bedside lamp to write something down before morning could make it disappear.

The Artist

Jessica recently returned to a childhood love of sketching and painting, rediscovering the quiet joy of creating by hand. She enjoys working with acrylics, oils, and watercolors, but is especially drawn to painting faceless women figures that leave space for emotion and personal interpretation. As she continues developing her style, her hope is to explore textured art and to keep learning through each new piece.
